Eligibility for JEE Main(JEE Mains 2023 exam date)
List of Qualifying Examinations (QE)
- The final examination of the 10+2 system is conducted by a recognized Central or State Board.
- Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board or University.
- The final examination of the two-year course from the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
- Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
- Any examination in India or a foreign country is recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
- Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination.
- A Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State board of technical education, with a duration of at least 3 years.
- General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
- High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma from the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
- Candidates who have completed the Class 12 (or equivalent) examination outside India or from a Board not specified above must obtain a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) confirming the equivalence of their examination to the Class 12 Examination.
- If the Class 12 Examination is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination earlier.
Year of Appearance in Qualifying Examination
- Eligibility for JEE (Main) – 2024 is limited to candidates who have completed their Class 12 or equivalent examination in 2022, and 2023 or are currently enrolled in the Class 12 or equivalent examination for 2024.
- Candidates who concluded their Class 12 or equivalent examination in 2021 or any prior year, or who plan to take this examination in 2024 or beyond, are not eligible to participate in JEE (Main) – 2024.
Age Limit
- For JEE (Main) – 2024, there is no age limit for candidates. Anyone who has either passed the class 12 or its equivalent examination in 2022, and 2023 or is scheduled to appear in 2024, regardless of their age, is eligible to take the JEE (Main) – 2024 examination. However, it’s important to note that specific institutes may have their age criteria for admission.
- Candidates who passed the Class 12 or equivalent examination in 2021 or earlier, as well as those planning to take this examination in 2024 or later, are not eligible to participate in JEE (Main) – 2024

1. What Is JEE Main?
The Joint Entrance Examination, JEE (Main), consists of two papers. Paper 1 is conducted for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs (B.E/B.Tech.) at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), as well as Institutions/Universities funded/recognized by participating State Governments. JEE (Main) also serves as an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is the entrance exam for admission to IITs.
On the other hand, Paper 2 is conducted for admission to B.Arch and B.Planning courses across the country.
2. What IS the Selection Process Of JEE Main?
Conversion of the raw scores in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry into NTA scores is conducted. These NTA scores are then combined to determine the overall merit, which is prepared by consolidating NTA scores from all shifts across all examination days
Mode Of JEE Main Exam?
- JEE (Main) – 2024 will be conducted in the following modes:
- Paper 1 (B.E. /B. Tech.) will be held in “Computer Based Test (CBT)” mode only.
- Paper 2A (B. Arch) will consist of Mathematics (Part-I) and Aptitude Test (Part-II), conducted in “Computer Based Test (CBT)” mode. The Drawing Test (Part III) will be in pen and paper (offline) mode and must be attempted on a drawing sheet of A4 size.
- Paper 2B (B. Planning) will include Mathematics (Part-I), Aptitude Test (Part-II), and Planning Based Questions (Part-III), all of which will be conducted in “Computer Based Test (CBT)” mode only.

Eligibility for Admission to NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs
Candidates aiming for admission to NITs, IIITs, and other CFTIs that consider JEE (Main) ranks as the admission criteria should meet specific academic requirements. They must have achieved a minimum of 75% marks in their Class 12 examination or rank within the top 20 percentile in the Class 12 examination conducted by their respective Boards. For SC/ST candidates, the qualifying marks are slightly lower, at 65% in the Class 12 examination.
It’s important to note that the admission process to NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs will be determined based on the qualifying percentile specified by each institute.
How to Download Admit Card for JEE Main
The e-Admit Card will be provisionally issued to candidates via the NTA website: https://jeemain.nta.ac.in, once they meet the eligibility criteria and submit the required application fee to NTA.
Candidates are required to download the Admit Card from the NTA website using their application number and password. They must appear for the examination at the designated center on the specified date and during the scheduled shift/timing, as indicated in their e-Admit Card.
How To Download Answer Key Of JEE Main?
The National Testing Agency (NTA) will release the Provisional Answer Key for the questions on the official NTA website: https://jeemain.nta.ac.in. A Public Notice will be issued on the website to inform candidates about this release. This allows candidates the opportunity to challenge the Provisional Answer Keys, subject to a non-refundable online payment of Rs. 200 per question challenged as processing charges. The Provisional Answer Keys will typically be available for review and challenge for a period of two to three days.

How to Apply For JEE Mains 2024
- To make the application process more convenient for candidates, we have improved the application form, allowing candidates to complete it in smaller, manageable sections. The updated process is as follows:
- Step 1 – Registration Form: In this step, candidates will provide their basic information and create their registration credentials.
- Step 2 – Application Form: This step involves filling in personal details, selecting examination cities, providing qualification information, and additional details (if required), and uploading necessary documents.
- Step 3 – Fee Payment: Candidates can pay the examination fee using any Debit/Credit card, UPI, or through SBI, Canara, HDFC, ICICI, or Paytm online gateway payment facility, or Net Banking.
- Step 4 – Confirmation Page: The Confirmation Page of the online Application Form for a session will be generated after the successful payment of the fee by the candidate. A copy of the Confirmation Page for JEE (Main) – 2024 will be sent to the candidate’s registered email address, or they can download it after the final submission.
